from the desk of Gina Johnson
This has been a subject I have been pondering on for some time, inquiring of the Lord and praying for how to share this deep concern.
The purpose of this blog is to draw the body of Christ into a place of accountability while bringing healing and deliverance to those who have been lost in a zombie state of existence by inviting in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what does zombie mean?
Zombie: the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose. A person who's behavior or responses are wooden, listless, or seemingly rote; automaton. (source from Dictionary.com)
I share my observations of what I have been witnessing first hand within the body of Christ for too long. The "world" has made light of zombies in the media through movies, books, songs and other forms of social marketing and entertainment. We know the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy the call on our lives and my hope is this blog will open eyes to see and ears to hear what the spirit of God has to say.
As I've watched people in the church sanctuary coming and going I've seen a spirit of lethargy on them. Some numb and life-less, others slothful and idle. I asked the Lord what is this and why are your children acting like this? And I heard, the messages are dry and lifeless. His ministers have lost their first love and passion for Him. His people are idle and in a "zombie" state because of what they have experienced in life and the conditions surrounding them.
As God's people we are to live in His light and love by His Spirit, meditating on His Word daily as our refreshing manna. However, I see many speaking about His Spirit but denying His free flowing presence.
2 Corinthians 3:17 (AMP)
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).
This scripture calls us to draw on the Lord and invite His spirit in where we dwell, where we fellowship, where we worship together as one united in Christ.
There has been much controversy about flowing in the spirit because of what we have seen and experienced by those who have acted out in a manner that brought confusion or fear. But God is not a spirit of fear.
2 Timothy 1:7(AMP) 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
Eph. 4: (AMP) 12 His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church),
13 [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [[b]full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.
As adopted heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven we are to call on His Spirit, in all we do, say, act and live. For the heart of God in His Spirit are gifts to us.
Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP) 22 But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, 23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[a]that can bring a charge].
When we see the evidence of these gifts in operation we see God. When we surrender our lives to Him, we invite His spirit to dwell in us. When His spirit dwells in us we walk in a manner befitting heirs to Heaven and children of the Most High God. As such we are then spreading this love and light, drawing those lost in the dark and into the light for His glory and honor.
So what do we do?
Ephesians 4 (AMP)
4 I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the [divine] calling to which you have been called [with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God’s service,
2 Living as becomes you] with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another.
3 Be eager and strive earnestly to guard and keep the harmony and oneness of [and produced by] the Spirit in the binding power of peace.
4 [There is] one body and one Spirit—just as there is also one hope [that belongs] to the calling you received—
5 [There is] one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of [us] all, Who is above all [Sovereign over all], pervading all and [living] in [us] all.
As leaders we are called:
1 Peter 5 (AMP)
5 I warn and counsel the elders among you (the pastors and spiritual guides of the church) as a fellow elder and as an eyewitness [called to testify] of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a sharer in the glory (the honor and splendor) that is to be revealed (disclosed, unfolded):
2 Tend (nurture, guard, guide, and fold) the flock of God that is [your responsibility], not by coercion or constraint, but willingly; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits [belonging to the office], but eagerly and cheerfully;
3 Not domineering [as arrogant, dictatorial, and overbearing persons] over those in your charge, but being examples (patterns and models of Christian living) to the flock (the congregation).
1 Peter 5:8-9 (AMP)
8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [[a]in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same ([b]identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
Hebrews 10:26 (AMP)
26 For if we go on deliberately and willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward].
John 14:15 (AMP)
15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (AMP)
16 Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always);
17 Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];
18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].
In this you Will be set free, you Will live, you Will love
and God Will move on your behalf!
To us all Father, may we hold to our first love in Christ Jesus, accountable to one another as brethren in unity as one body. Draw us in by Your spirit and remove the blind folds the scales the enemy has placed over the eyes of Your beloved and set them free.
PRAYER:
Abba, I call on your chosen leaders to draw nearer to thee. May they seek You first Your kingdom and righteousness believing everything else will be added unto them. May they not concern themselves with the numbers in the church but concern themselves with the wholeness of the body they are called to oversee. May they not judge according to their own understandings but extend mercy where it is needed, love over the broken hearted and grace to the stiff necked generation. In Your love, You Lord break off the chains. In Your love, You Lord extend the branch of peace. May Your anointed walk in humility of spirit and boldess in Your Word. Not living a compromised life feeding their own desires, but casting all vain imaginations down and taking up the sword of the Spirit of truth and love. Living a life approving in Your site. Grant them the serenity to accept the things they cannot change, courage to change the things they can and the wisdom to know the difference. As we serve you one body in Christ Jesus may we serve You in excellence in all we do to honor and glorify Your name in Jesus name.
Amen!
